Small Groups play an important role in the Spiritual Health of Parish life by encouraging us in prayer, study of scripture and worship.
Small Groups also strengthen us in our care for one another and energise us to share our faith with others.
At St John’s we have several Small Groups which meet regularly in the private homes of parishioners on different nights of the week. Each group has a leader and about eight to twelve members.
One Small Group meets on the second Tuesday of the month and another on the Third Wednesday of the month.
The Small Group which meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month is currently full but as groups grow and reach optimum size new groups are formed.
At the core of each Small Group is prayer, study of scripture and trust and confidentiality in relation to the personal matters of its members.
A typical Small Group meeting begins at 8.00 pm opening with prayer and followed by scriptural study.
Sometimes the entire evening will be devoted to the study of scripture; other times groups may decide to have a
short study followed by discussion concerning a common interest e g social, cultural or current issue.
The evening concludes with a light supper and a time of sharing and further informal discussion until about 9.30 pm.
Enquiries concerning Small Groups at St. Johns can be made at the Parish Office, 552 Burke Road, Camberwell 3124. Phone 9882 4851 between 10.00am and 3.00pm Tuesday to Friday.
