FUNERALS AND MEMORIAL SERVICES

The death of a loved one is a time both for sorrow and for thanksgiving. A Christian funeral commends the departed into the loving care of God, provides a structure for giving thanks for the person’s life and gifts, for hearing again the Christian conviction of God's love for us in this life and the next, and for saying our last goodbyes. St John’s Church offers a large, beautiful and light-filled sacred space for funerals; there is also an intimate chapel for smaller services.

The parish centre is available for hire if refreshments after the service are required.

THE MEMORIAL GARDEN

The Memorial Garden at St John’s witnesses to the Christian belief in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The ashes of those who have died in the Faith may be interred in this peaceful and hallowed place, where relatives and friends may come to sit quietly from time to time.

Either a brief service of interment is held after a cremation, or during a memorial service if the service follows the cremation.

A memorial book records the names of those whose ashes have been interred here. Interments can be arranged by contacting the Vicar:
