Matteo the Story Teller

Entertaining, enlightening, inspiring storytelling by Matteo will be featured at St John’s Bazaar on Saturday 22 October. Children are welcome to come dressed as their favourite story character and be transported by Matteo’s characterisations, music and mime as he weaves the characters into his stories, provided free as part of the day’s entertainment. Storytelling sessions will commence at 12noon and 1.00pm.

St John’s Bazaar theme, “supporting community needs” focusses on family and children. A special effort is needed this year to support the CAMCARE Family Fund with money lost when the long running Camberwell cash-for cans centre closed.

St John’s community has a strong connection with CAMCARE with donations from a monthly community cake sale contributing $2000 this year. The aim is to raise double this amount for the Family Fund that supports local families with children’s school needs not covered by government allocations to CAMCARE. And to do it every year from now on. CAMCARE CEO Margaret Banks expressed relief that the Family Fund would continue, as the cash for cans was the only source of income for the program.

St John’s Bazaar is a fun day with lots of good cooking, a variety of plants (grown locally every year), a load of rare treasures, books and gifts, face painting, and a pets competition judged by vet Kathy Hayes from the ABC Saturday morning pets program.

The needs of our local community and other less well off communities deserve our support, and St John’s Bazaar will provide the opportunity to have some fun at the same time. Information available on 98360438, or pmatters@bigpond.net.au
