Associate Priest - The Rev'd Joy Letts
Formerly Vicar of the Parish of the Holy Name, Vermont South, and St Mark’s East Brighton, Joy was ordained Priest
with the group of first women priests in Melbourne in 1992. Joy served her curacies at St John’s Toorak and St Peter’s BoxHill.
She has impressive formal qualifications with Degrees in Theology, Social Work and Education.
She has worked as a teacher and
administrator in both the private and state education system in Melbourne and London; she has extensive front-line
experience as a Social Worker and Clinical Counsellor, working in the areas of drug and alcohol abuse; grief and bereavement
counselling, and family counselling. Joy has held a number of ministry positions since ordination, including Chaplain
Coordinator with Anglican Aged Care, Associate Priest at St Paul's Canterbury, School Chaplain at Lowther Hall; Acting
Vicar at St Augustine’s Mentone. She has served on several Boards such as CCES, LifeWorks, Shelford GGS, Diocesan
Education and Aids Committee, Anglicare Council.
Joy accepted the Archbishop's appointment to our Parish of St John’s
Camberwell, which was made on the nomination of the Vicar and the Church Wardens.
Hon. Associate Priest - The Rev'd Helen Creed
Helen is currently Chaplain to Camberwell Girls' Grammar School, a role she began in 2004.
She was originally trained as an English teacher.
Helen was ordained a deacon in February 2002 and a Priest later that year. She is married to Roger, a member of the Choir, who is a teacher at Caulfield Grammar.

Brian recently retired as Senior Chaplain of Melbourne Grammar School. He is married to Muriel and they have two children:
Patrick (31) recently completed a Doctorate of Philosophy at Magdalen College Oxford on the First World War.
He is a Lecturer at King's College, Univ of London. Emily (29) is a Melbourne barrister.
Brian was born in Melbourne, educated at Caulfield Grammar School, and at Monash, New England and Cambridge Universities. He was recently made a
Doctor of Theology for a study of Archbishop Frank Woods 1957-1977.
He has been associated with St John's since 1992, but has always been a school chaplain assisting in a wide variety of parishes in Sydney,
Cambridge, Canberra and Melbourne. He is book review editor for The Melbourne Anglican, and has just completed writing a book on
Archbishop Sir Frank Woods to be published for the centenary celebration of Frank Woods in April 2007 at Trinity College.
He calls himself theologically a high church liberal. He rejoices in the Anglican synthesis of scripture, tradition and reason.
He most admires Bishops Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury) and Richard Holloway (recently retired primate of the Church in Scotland).
